Arctic Explorers

The grade 4 students are learning about Aboriginal culture and community in Social Studies this term.  Our guest, Mr. Igloo, introduced the students to the way of life in the Arctic; how they survive the cold winters, their main diet, and what they do for fun.  The students learned that the Aboriginal people believe the whole world is living and we are all connected in spirit.  The students were engaged and had fun trying out the traditional Inuit games! IMG_5837 IMG_5838 IMG_5839 IMG_5840 IMG_5842 IMG_5843 IMG_5844 IMG_5846 IMG_5813 IMG_5817 IMG_5819 IMG_5822 IMG_5824 IMG_5825 IMG_5827 IMG_5829 IMG_5831 IMG_5832 IMG_5833 IMG_5834 IMG_5836

This term in Science the grade 4 students are learning about biomes, ecosystems, habitats, and the relationship between organisms and their habitat.  They are exploring how humans can impact the environment in positive and negative ways.  During this workshop, the students learned the different layers of the rain forest and they created a diorama of how a real rain forest would be.
