“Harvest of Reading with Great Books”

Hello SFX Parents and Families,

We would like to support and promote some of the literacy programs being offered at the Mount Pleasant Vancouver Library.

Today, the Grade Four students met with Jennifer, the Children’s Acting Librarian from Mount Pleasant library to talk about some of their amazing programs! All of the programs are FREE , and it would be a great opportunity for our students to check some of these out.

On October 20, from 2pm to 3pm (Pro-D), there’s a program called, “Heroes and Boss” Build your own Video Game  (Grades 3-7). Registration is required for this program.

Monthly Thursdays: October 19, November 16, December 21  @ 6:30pm, “Be the Hero: Role-Playing Game” for grades 3-7.

Monthly Thursdays: October 26, November 23, December 28 “Programs for Tweens” is a book club for grades 4-7. Starting time is 6:30pm. Registration is required.

Monthly Saturdays: October 21, November 18, December 16, January 20th from 11am-12pm, “Paws 4 Stories”- children ages 6 + can practice their read-aloud skills (15minutes) with a therapy dog!

Please call the library to inquire more about the programs! We hope our students can experience some of these great activities.

Dear SFX Families,

I hope you are all excited to be back to SFX after a lovely, relaxing summer. Summer vacation is a blessed opportunity for all of us to recharge and be energized for September!

After serving memorable years in the Grade Three classroom, I feel excited and nervous to be taking on new roles at our school community. I hope my passion and love for Children’s Literature can add another layer of motivation and growth to our students’ literacy.

I will be in the library three days a week, Monday to Wednesday teaching Kindergarten, Grades Two, Four and Six. On my other two days, Thursday and Friday, I will be in the KS classroom.

At necessary times of the year, I will continue to communicate via blog postings with library news and events.

Let’s have a wonder-ful year!

Best regards,

Miss Kim 😊
