Lenten Promises

Yesterday marked the begin of the Lenten season.  As a sacrifice for Jesus, each student came up with their own lenten promise (ex. give up something such as candy, chocolate, playing on the ipad or watching TV…) Please ask your child about the promise, and help him/her successfully keep it.

Mite Boxes

Mite Boxes were distributed today.  Money collected during this lenten season will help support our Seminarians.  We will be collecting the mite boxes after Easter.

Chinese New Year Celebration

We will be having our Chinese New Year celebration tomorrow.  Students may wear their Chinese New Year outfits to school.  If they do not have a Chinese New Year outfit, they are expected to come to school in their uniform.  Please note that it will be a noon dismissal.

Speech Arts

Our class has been working hard at practicing for the Speech Arts Competition.  The SFX Speech Arts Competition will be held on Tuesday, February 6th.  Parents are welcome to come watch and show their support.  The Individual Speech Arts portion will take place in the morning.  The Class Speech Arts portion will take place in the afternoon.  The time has not been confirmed yet.  Students will write the time in their planner when it is confirmed.

1D Mass

Wednesday, February 7th is the 1D class mass.  Some students will have a mass part.  If your child has a part, please continue to practice with them at home.  Parents are welcome to join us for mass.

Family Project

We will be working on a Family Project in class in the next few weeks.  Students are asked to bring ONE PHOTO OF EACH family member rather than a group family photo.  Group family photos will be cut up. These photos will NOT be returned as they will be glued into the project so please make sure it is not your only copy.  Please have your child bring the photos by Monday.

To help your child with this project, please take some time with your child to fill out the information needed on the family sheets sent home today.  Family sheets are to be completed and returned by tomorrow.

Valentine’s Spirit Day

Since Valentine’s falls on Ash Wednesday (the beginning of Lent), the Valentine’s Spirit day will be on Tuesday, February 13th instead.  Students may wear Valentine’s day colours (red, pink, white) to school.  Please keep in mind that it is a PE day.  Students will need to wear their PE clothes under or bring their PE strip to change into.

PHE (Physical and Health Education) Homework 

Mr. Pietrusinski sent homework (Food Groups worksheet) for the students to complete.  Students will be bringing this home tomorrow.  Please have your child complete the sheet and return it to school on Monday.

Dance Workshop
