The Inuit Culture Model
Your task: Create a model/artifact/ diorama that shows the traditional Inuit culture.
The model should show how the Inuit Peoples used the natural resources in the environment to meet their basic needs.
Here are a few topics to choose from:
Hunting
Shelter
Clothing
Transportation
Art
**Your model should use as many natural materials as possible.

DUE DATE: Tuesday, January 20th, 2015
This project should take about 4 hours to complete, if you use your class time wisely and take the weekend to apply any finishing touches on your model.

Evaluation will be based on artistic presentation, attention to detail, and accurate use of text information.

Materials you will need:

– Shoe box (or similar box)

Writing Portion
Your task: Label and caption parts of your model explaining the parts. Attached to the side of the box, include a caption explaining what topic you choice and how the Inuit Peoples used the natural resources in the environment to meet their basic needs. (This should be at least one paragraph in length).

Evaluation will be based on: Reasoning, Communication, Organization of Ideas, and Application of Language Conventions.

Oral Presentation
Your task: Present your project to the class (for a minimum of three minutes). Explain what you included in your diorama and why you chose to do so. During this time you will also read your labels and captions to the class. You will explain the natural resources used in the environment to meet their basic needs.

Evaluation will be based on clarity/volume of voice, accurate information being provided, and proper use of time.
Schedule: January 13-20th, 2015

Monday and Tuesday: Locate/gather supplies you will need to create your diorama/model.

-in class research about your topic
-time in class to work with your partner (1 hour)

Wednesday: Bring your supplies to school; continue to work on your project (30 minutes)

Thursday: 1 hour to work on diorama in class.

Friday: 1.5 hours to work on diorama in class / practice oral presentation.

Friday night: If you’re not finished your diorama, you have homework for the weekend.

Monday: Practice oral presentation in class
Tuesday, January 20th, 2015: All students present dioramas/models to the class.
